Chirag Datta Naik Launches Pothole-Filling Initiative; Slams Digambar Kamat for Neglecting Margao’s Roads
MARGAO: Concerned by the worsening condition of roads in Margao and the daily struggles faced by commuters, Congress leader Chirag Datta Naik has launched a dedicated pothole-filling initiative under his personal banner. The drive began today from Rawanfond and will continue across all major roads in Margao from July 15 to July 31, 2025. Starting today, potholes will be identified, and the vehicle will move around Margao daily from July 15th until the end of the month.
Over the past several months, residents and motorists have been raising repeated complaints about the hazardous state of roads. The potholes have not only caused damage to vehicles but have also led to several minor accidents, making travel within the city dangerous—especially for two-wheeler riders and senior citizens.
Chirag Datta Naik came down heavily on the local administration, stating:
“The roads of Margao have turned into death traps. Every day, people risk their lives while commuting. It’s shocking that despite being in power for decades, Digambar Kamat has completely ignored the basic infrastructure needs of the people. His silence and inaction are a clear betrayal of public trust.”
Naik emphasized that the current situation reflects a deep failure in governance.
“This initiative is not about politics; it’s about people. If the elected MLA cannot ensure safe roads, then someone has to step up. I’m doing this because I care about Margao and its people,” he added
