GOA GOVERNMENT RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR PROACTIVE MINING INITIATIVES
The Government of Goa has been felicitated by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, for its outstanding efforts in implementing the revised Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) Guidelines, 2024. The recognition was awarded at the National District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Workshop in New Delhi.
Goa’s government has demonstrated a proactive approach in incorporating the PMKKKY guidelines into the Goa State District Mineral Foundation Rules. The PMKKKY aims to promote the welfare of areas and people affected by mining-related operations, utilizing funds generated by District Mineral Foundations (DMFs). The revised guidelines encourage DMFs to prioritize achieving targets under the Aspirational Districts Programme and Aspirational Blocks Programme.
Shri Abhir Hede, Additional Director-I, Directorate of Mines & Geology, received the felicitation from Shri G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines. This recognition highlights Goa’s commitment to implementing the PMKKKY guidelines effectively and its dedication to the welfare of mining-affected communities.
This achievement is in line with Goa’s overall development trajectory, with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasizing the importance of women empowerment and community development initiatives in the state. The state’s proactive approach to implementing national guidelines and programs demonstrates its commitment to progress and sustainable development.
