Career UDAAN’ Counselling Session Held in Curchorem Empowers 750 Students and Parents
In a landmark initiative, the Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC), Government of Goa, launched its first-ever ‘Career UDAAN’ career counselling session for students of Classes X, XI, and XII. Held at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem, the session witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 750 students and parents from across South Goa.
The event, part of GSHEC’s mission to empower students with informed career choices, was anchored by Dr. Mahadev Gawas, Project Director, Samarth e-Governance Project Unit, GSHEC. Dr. Gawas emphasized the importance of early career awareness, especially in the evolving educational and professional landscape.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Jinu Ponnachan, Legal Assistant at V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, who inspired students by sharing valuable insights on various legal and interdisciplinary career paths.
The session was smoothly coordinated by Mr. Sanjay Naik, Mr. Ajay Jadhav, and Mr. Gopal Prabhu, State Coordinator for Samarth e-Gov, with technical support from Mr. Rohit Naik and the Samarth team.
Students and parents from nearly 25 higher secondary schools and high schools in and around Curchorem participated in the event. The highlight of the session was the presentation of over 200 career options available after Class 12, along with detailed information on scholarships, entrance exams, and skill development pathways.
During the session, copies of the Career Compass handbook—an extensive guide featuring more than 300 career options across streams—were distributed among the students. This resource aims to serve as a long-term career planning tool, helping students explore diverse opportunities aligned with their interests and strengths.
The response from students and parents was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the initiative’s practical guidance, wide career coverage, and approachable format.
Career UDAAN is set to continue across different regions of Goa, with the aim of creating an informed and aspirational student community aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
