Andreas Almgren Shatters Swedish 3000m Record Despite Being Far from Peak Form
Andreas Almgren has broken the Swedish 3000m record, achieving a time of 7:31.42 despite being far from his peak form. The record previously stood at 7:34.28. Almgren is confident in his abilities, stating, “I know I have a high quality, and honestly, it was not a good record I had before.”
Currently, Almgren is in a rigorous training phase, having covered 205 kilometers in the past week. This intense training is in preparation for the World Championship in Japan, where he aims to perform at his best.
Almgren set the new record at Sollentuna-vallen, near his parents’ home. He joked that he would have had a tough training session that weekend anyway, so he decided to participate in the competition.
As Almgren prepares for the World Championship, he faces a challenging period due to his history of injuries and illnesses. “I’ll just get through them, will be constantly anxious,” he admits, revealing that he’ll be cautious around others to avoid getting sick [1].
