FC Goa Makes History with 2-1 Win Over Al Seeb Club

FC Goa made history by securing a spot in the AFC Champions League Two 2025-26 group stage, defeating Al Seeb Club of Oman 2-1 in a thrilling preliminary stage tie at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Dejan Drazic and Javier Siverio scored the winning goals for the Gaurs.
The match began with Al Seeb’s aggressive start, testing FC Goa’s defense as early as the second minute. Nasser Al Rawahi forced defender Pol Moreno into an impressive acrobatic clearance, while Zahir Al Aghbari’s follow-up shot was blocked. However, FC Goa gained momentum and took the lead in the 24th minute when Drazic received a long pass from Borja Herrera, evaded Al Rawahi’s challenge, and delicately chipped the ball past Ahmed Al Khamisi into the net.
In the second half, FC Goa maintained their dominance. Drazic’s powerful shot in the 52nd minute was palmed away by Al Rawahi, but the momentum led to FC Goa extending their lead shortly after. Herrera’s corner kick found Siverio, who headed the ball home, doubling the Gaurs’ advantage.
Al Seeb mounted a late fightback and reduced the deficit at the hour mark when Nasser Al Rawahi scored from close range off Ali Al Busaidi’s cutback. Despite their efforts, FC Goa held firm, becoming the second Indian side to secure a spot in the group stage after Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
The Gaurs will now await the draw on August 15 to discover their group stage opponents ¹ ².
