“Bonderam Festival 2025 Showcases Goa’s Rich Cultural Heritage and Community Spirit”
Divar: The Bonderam Festival 2025 on Divar Island was a vibrant celebration of Goa’s traditions, history, and creativity. Organized by St. Mathias Sports Club, Malar, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, the festival featured a range of activities.
The festival included engaging talks, Goan folk performances, and creative workshops that highlighted Goa’s rich cultural heritage. A showcase of traditional Goan delicacies, such as sorpotel, bebinca, sanna, and prawn curry, was also part of the celebrations. The Bonderam Flag Parade, a symbolic parade that marks the beginning of the festival, featured colorful flags and traditional costumes. The Bonderachi Pássoi (Heritage Walk) highlighted the island’s rich history and cultural significance, while the Bonderachi Parade featured colorful floats, traditional costumes, and energetic performances.
The festival also featured live band performances and DJ sets, which added to the energetic and festive atmosphere. According to Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, “Bonderam is a vivid celebration of Goa’s heritage, blending colours, music, and the unity of our communities.” Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, emphasized the Department of Tourism’s commitment to promoting experiences that go beyond conventional attractions, highlighting Bonderam as a perfect example of Goa’s diverse offerings.
This year’s celebrations featured an inclusive and accessible program, ensuring participation from all sections of society. The festival showcased the strong community spirit of the locals, who actively participated in the celebrations.
