Candolim Gets a Facelift: New Health Centre Construction Nears Completion
Calangute: In a significant development for the Candolim community, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo inspected the ongoing construction of the new Candolim Health Centre, accompanied by candolim Sarpanch Blaize Fernandes, Panch members, the contractor, and team. This long-awaited upgrade marks a major milestone in enhancing healthcare services in the area.
The project received a significant boost with the state government sanctioning Rs 20 crore for the new wing of the PHC. Notably, former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had initially sanctioned Rs 10 crore, and the current Chief Minister Pramod Sawant added another Rs 10 crore to the project ¹.
Goa’s healthcare infrastructure is well-developed, with facilities ranging from Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to District Hospitals and the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) at the state level. The state government has been working to upgrade and improve these facilities, including the construction of a new Cancer block near GMC and the upgradation of hospital facilities ².
