“Rickshaw Sinks in Baga’s calangutes’s Sewerage Saga: Congress Flags PWD’s Monsoon Misstep”
A goods carrier rickshaw recently got stuck in the mud on Baga road, which was excavated for a sewerage pipeline project, causing a water pipeline to break and water to gush out. The incident has sparked outrage among locals and Congress workers, who claim that the PWD’s decision to undertake such work during the monsoon season is a recipe for disaster.
The Calangute Congress block committee president, Lourenco Silveira, slammed the PWD for their poor planning and execution, stating that this issue has been ongoing for 13-14 years, ever since the digging began for the sewerage pipeline network. Locals and tourists alike have been facing difficulties, with two-wheelers frequently falling, and vehicles getting stuck in the mud.
Following appeals from Congress workers and local residents, the PWD has initiated repairs to restore the damaged water pipeline. However, the Congress workers are demanding that the PWD cease such operations during the monsoon season, citing the risks and inconvenience caused to the public.
