“Curchorem Gets Boost in Consumer Protection with New Legal Metrology Offices”
In a significant development for consumer protection in Curchorem, Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai inaugurated three new offices: the Office of the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology (South Zone II), the Office of the Inspector Legal Metrology, Curchorem, and the Working Standard Laboratory Curchorem. The ceremony was attended by MLA Curchorem Shri Nilesh Cabral, Controller of Legal Metrology Shri Arun Panchwadkar, and other dignitaries.
Enhanced Consumer Protection: The new offices will ensure strict enforcement of legal metrology laws, protecting consumers from unfair trade practices and ensuring accuracy in measurements.
The Working Standard Laboratory will provide calibration services for weights and measures, supporting local businesses and industries. The Office of the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology and the Office of the Inspector Legal Metrology will provide a platform for consumers to file complaints and seek redressal.
The establishment of these offices demonstrates the government’s commitment to consumer welfare and fair trade practices. It is expected to boost consumer confidence, promote fair competition, and support local businesses.
