Faldessai fulfils vow, offers gold crown & necklace to Devi Shree Shantadurga Khubharjuvekarin

Panaji: Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Tuesday fulfilled the promise he had made last year by offering a gold crown and necklace to Devi Shree Shantadurga Khubharjuvekarin at Marcel on the occasion of Sangodd Utsav.

The MLA had publicly pledged during last year’s Sangod incident that he would make this offering as a mark of gratitude to the Goddess for ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone.

Also present were Faldessai’s spouse, Rima along with temple committee members, devotees and well-wishers. Present on the occasion were Sarpanch V.P Cumbarjua Shri Sachin Gaude, Panch Members Shri Nandakumar Shet, Smt. Vinda Joshi, President Shantadurga Khubharjuvekarin Devasthan Shri Shivaji Shet, Committee Members and other dignitaries.

Two canoes carrying a float capsized at the Cumbharjua Sangod Utsav last year in September. Luckily, all participants either swam to safety or were rescued by participants of other floats, thereby averting any tragedy at the annual festival.

“In view of this incident, I had sought Devi’s intervention to ensure none of the participants are hurt, and I vowed to offer a gold crown and necklace to Devi as a thanksgiving for her protection. I am extremely delighted that Devi’s blessings and protection are upon all the people of Cumbarjua. And hence, I have fulfilled my vow for this year’s Sangod,” Faldessai said.

“I fervently pray to Devi to always protect the people of Cumbarjua. Her devotion is growing by the day. I also thank the state government for its assistance. I also thank the Tourism Director who has sent two canoes for this year’s Sangod festival. We have ensured all safety measures are in place, including ambulances, etc. at the Sangod event,” he added.
