India’s AFC Asian Cup Qualifier Squad Gets Boost with Brandon Fernandes and Asheer Akhtar’s Inclusion
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced the addition of midfielder Brandon Fernandes and defender Asheer Akhtar to the 30-member probables squad for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Singapore. Led by head coach Khalid Jamil, the national camp will commence on Saturday in Bengaluru, where the team will undergo rigorous training and tactical preparations.
The probables squad includes football icon Sunil Chhetri, who was part of India’s strong third-place finish at the CAFA Nations Cup. The team will train in Bengaluru ahead of the two-legged matches against Singapore on October 9 and 14. The 30-member probables squad will be trimmed down to the final team for the qualifiers.
India will face Singapore on October 9 at the National Stadium and on October 14 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa. This development showcases the AIFF’s focus on blending experience with emerging talent as India prepares for the crucial Group C qualifiers.
