GPYC North slams ABVP for disruptive protest
MAPUSA: The North Goa unit of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress has condemned the attack by elements affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on the teachers and students of St Xavier’s College.
North Goa president Rinaldo Rozario, in a statement said that the incident brought a bad name to the student community in the state
I strongly condemn the behaviour of the newly elected General Secretary of the Students Council of St.Xavier’s College, who is backed by ABVP who was seen shouting slogans and then proceeding to classrooms in front of teachers, showing no respect to them. Such a Shame!” Rozario,who was an ex-student of Dnyanprasarak Mandal’s College in Assagao.
“As a student leader he has made a complete mockery of student issues and misused his position to disrupt the peaceful environment of a well established institute in Mapusa. As an entrepreneur it disheartens me and I sincerely hope that his attitude isn’t reflective of the overall quality or lack thereof, of the next generation of leaders,” he added.
“Such behaviour has potential to ruin a students career and will make future recruiters wary of recruiting such kinds of students who believe they can disrupt and agitate for any petty issues while showing no respect to authority,” he added.
Rozario asked student leaders to recall their own responsibilities and called on the leaders of tomorrow to “use your powers to uplift the students and your college and not give attention to yourselves and your party.
