The Selaulim dam at Sanguem began to overflow from the duckbill spillway at its crest

The Selaulim dam at Sanguem began to overflow from the duckbill spillway at its crest on Thursday morning when the water level at the dam reached 41.15 metres.
With heavy rains in the taluka over the last few days, the reservoir got filled to the brim five days earlier as compared to last year, informed Assistant Engineer attached to the Water Resource Department office in Sanguem. The total water storage capacity of the dam is 234 million cubic metres. Entry to people at the dam site is banned for security reasons, visitors are permitted to visit the Botanical Garden on the other side of the dam area.
