Mapusa: The newly elected chairperson of the Mapusa Municipal Council Nutan Bicholkar , said that her topmost priority will be to solve the garbage issue and other social problems plaguing the town
Bicholkar was speaking to reporters after being elected unopposed as the new Chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council on Friday as Bicholkar was the only councillor to file a nomination for the post presiding officer Uday Phaldessai declared Bicholkar as elected unopposed as the new CP.
The post of chairperson had fallen vacant , after the former Chairperson Priya Mishal as part of a Mutual agreement recently resigned from her post and to make way for a new chairperson
Those who supported Bicholkar for the top post were councillors Mamely Sainath Raul, Priya mishal, Viraj Phadke, and Chandra shekar Benkar .
Newly elected chairperson Bicholkar said that she would focus on the basic issues faced by the people like garbage problem and other issues plaguing the town

She further said that consecutive elections of women to the post of chairperson in Mapusa should set a precedence to other municipalities to work towards women empowerment
