AI traffic signal at Peddem junction to be installed soon: Ferreira
Panaji: Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Sunday said that the government has approved the installation of AI-controlled traffic signals at Peddem junction.
He said that the traffic signals along with cameras will be procured from Chennai.
“I am pleased to inform you that our proposal for a traffic signal at Peddem junction has been approved. The peddem junction is at the top of the list of accident-prone black spots, and hence the government has accorded priority to install this signal. The AI-controlled signal along with cameras will be ordered from Chennai. I have been informed that the installation will be done in 2 months, however, I have requested the authorities not to get all the stock at once and instead get this first and install it soon. I am following it up to ensure it is installed as early as possible,” he said.
He also assured to look into the synchronisation of all signals at the junction once it is fixed.
Given the reduction of the height of the rumbler strips at this junction, he also urged the authorities concerned to enforce strict control as motorists are speeding and accidents are increasing.
“Speed breakers on the service road coming from Caraswaddo are also to be erected soon,” he said.
Ferreira also said that the flyover/underpass demand made by him has been accepted and the consultant has been directed by the government to submit the plan.
“The consultant has been told by the government to submit the plan. This will take time as design, planning and location is needed and then tendering will happen. While the signal at the junction and speed breakers on the service road will be taken up soon, the flyover/underpass will take some time,” he said.
The long pending demand for fixing the streetlight at the junction that has been non-functional for the past 2 months has also been resolved.
“Since I have been elected, I am working for the people and not for my personal gains. and will continue doing so,” he added.
