SWACHHATA HI SEVA 2024: GOVT LAUNCHES SPECIAL CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE CLEANLINESS
Porvorim, Goa, – The Goa government launched the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, a nationwide initiative to promote cleanliness and sanitation, at Mantralaya yesterda.
Director of Science & Technology and Waste Management, Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, and Managing Director of Goa Waste Management Corporation, along with Director of Panchayat, Smt. Siddhi Halarnkar, addressed the media highlighting the campaign’s objectives.
“Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 aims to instill a sense of ownership and responsibility among citizens towards cleanliness,” Shri Yadav said
The campaign, running from September 17 to October 2, 2024, will focus on:
– Cleanliness drives in educational institutions
– Awareness programs in fishery-related environments
– Tree plantation under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Name”
– Waste segregation and composting awareness

Smt. Halarnkar emphasized the importance of community participation. “We urge citizens to join hands in making Goa a cleaner and greener state.”
KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
– 15,000 students to participate in cleanliness drives
– 500 tonnes of waste to be collected and processed
– 10,000 saplings to be planted

The campaign is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, launched in 2014.
