Anuradha Volvoikar elected new Sao Mathias sarpanch
PANAJI: Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai congratulated Anuradha M. Volvoikar after she was elected as the new Sarpanch of Sao Mathias Village Panchayat on Monday.
Volvoikar secured a 4-3 win with the support of panch members Marina F. Vas, Shabdesh R. Mandrekar and Deputy Sarpanch Rupesh S. Homkhandi.
Faldessai said that certain stalled works will now be taken forward with the election of the new sarpanch.
“This is a good development for us. For the past two years, a lot of works were not moving forward in Sao Mathias panchayat. Hence, the panch members agreed to replace the sarpanch. I have extended my support to this move. I will assist them in their endeavours. They have taken this step to fulfil the demands of their voters to undertake development works. Whatever works that were stalled will start immediately. In the next two-three months, you will start seeing the results of this,” he said.
Expressing happiness over her election as sarpanch, Volvoikar thanked the MLA and other panch members for their support.
“I will work by taking everyone into confidence. Our MLA is always there to support us,” she said.
Homkhandi urged all panch members to work unitedly for the development of the village.
“I congratulate the new sarpanch for her election. I also congratulate the MLA as it is with his support that we have taken this step and made it possible. We have formed a new panel with the support of the MLA and got our sarpanch elected. I urge everyone to work unitedly for the development of Sao Mathias panchayat. We expect our works to be completed with the blessings of our MLA. Our MLA has always extended his support to us for any request,” he said.
