MASKED ASSAILANTS ATTACK EX-SARPANCH MAHESH KONADKAR IN MANDREM, GOA”
PANAJI: A gang of five unknown persons wearing masks attacked ex-sarpach of Mandrem panchayat on Wednesday at around 1 pm.
They called him and when he asked what do they want they shouted in one voice “You want Michael Lobo” then take and allegedly attacked him with iron rods and lathis and fled the scene of the crime leaving him bleeding and weeping on the streets.
The MLA, from Calangute, Mr Michael Lobo, rushed to his house and said ” I have never come across these things in my life in Goa.”
After condemning the incident demanded thorough investigation in the murderous attack on Mr Mahesh Konadkar.
“I will discuss the issue with the chief minister, Dr Pramod Sawant in this regard.” he added.
He also demanded that the case should be handed over to the Crime Branch for investigation and wanted to know who is behind the attack and who gave them the alleged supari.
Mr Lobo said Mr Mahesh Konadkar was also threatened twice earlier adding this is completely wrong.
While expressing shock at the murderous attack on the ex sarpanch, he said tomorrow they will attack any body any panch member, ZP member this shows the attempt to murder is an act of complete frustrations. This is not a democratic action and I am deadly against it.
Mr Konadkar is my friend first and then a politician and I know him for quite a long time, ” he added.
“You need to show your performance and win the election and election is also too far, ” he said.
“The culprits should be nabbed immediately and put behind bars at all costs. This is cheer dadagiri and it will not be tolerated, ” he added.
“Tomorrow some one will come and attack any one in Calangute and Anjuna. Till date I have neither taken any press conference nor disclosed my wish to contest from Mandrem, “then why this fight and frustration? he asked
While Mandrem MLA, Jeet Arolkar condemned the attack on Konadkar and instructed the police to conduct thorough inquiry into the incident and nab the gangsters and punish them so that the victim gets justice.
