FC Goa Marks Manolo Marquez’s 100th ISL Match with 2-0 Win Over Hyderabad FC

FC Goa celebrated Head Coach Manolo Marquez’s 100th match in the Indian Super League (ISL) with a convincing 2-0 victory over Hyderabad FC at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium.
The win propelled FC Goa to third place in the league standings, just two points behind co-leaders Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Bengaluru FC.
Marquez, who spent three successful seasons with Hyderabad FC before joining FC Goa, made three changes to his lineup from the previous match against Kerala Blasters. Jay Gupta, Udanta Singh, and Armando Sadiku returned to the starting XI.
FC Goa dominated the first half, with Udanta Singh opening the scoring in the 33rd minute. Mohammad Yasir’s perfectly weighted long pass found Udanta in space, and the winger slotted the ball past Hyderabad goalkeeper Lalbiakhlua Jongte.
The Gaurs doubled their advantage in the 44th minute through a brilliant team effort. Armando Sadiku’s clever heel-flick found an onrushing Iker Guarrotxena, whose shot deflected off Hyderabad defender Stefan Sapic and into the net.
Hyderabad FC created several threatening chances in the second half, but FC Goa’s defense remained resolute, led by goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari. Tiwari made seven crucial saves to deny the home side a comeback.
With the victory, FC Goa bolstered their hopes of securing the top honors. Their next assignment is another tough away clash against Bengaluru FC, one of the two teams currently leading the standings.
