Yogesh Pilgaonkar Elected Unopposed as BJP Cumbarjua Mandal Adhyaksh
Panaji: Yogesh Pilgaonkar, a dedicated grassroots party worker and resident of Divar, was elected unopposed as the BJP Cumbarjua Mandal Adhyaksh during a meeting held at the Panchayat Hall, Old Goa on Sunday. The election, conducted by senior party member and former Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienkar.
The Chairman of Goa Rehabilitation Board and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai said that the foundation stone for the Railway Overbridge at Dauji will be laid on January 11. He was speaking after the meeting of the BJP Cumbarjua Mandal at Panchayat Hall, Old Goa.
Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches and panch members of various panchayats in the constituency as well as senior party bearers, including former Panaji MLA and party spokesperson Sidharth Kuncalienkar was present as the returning officer for the election.
Congratulating Pilgaonkar on his election, Faldessai assured to support him in all his endeavours.
“His journey starts today, it’s a big responsibility. He was the suitable candidate in the age of 35-45 for the post. I will support him wholeheartedly to take forward the party work. He has worked a lot for the party in the past and works tirelessly. BJP is a party that handholds a person who has come up from the grassroots level. Yogesh is never selfish, and is a hard core party worker. I have been simple karyakarta and even worked with a person like Manohar Parrikar who was disciplined and the same way our current CM Dr. Pramod Sawant is,” Faldessai said.
On the Zilla panchayat elections, he said, “We have to work unitedly for the betterment of the party. For the upcoming Zilla panchayat election we will 12,000 votes majority than the previous the majority of 7,000 votes.”
The MLA also said that foundation stone for the Dauji Overbridge will be laid soon.
” Dauji overbridge work has started a month ago, while the foundation stone will be laid on January 11, with the Chief Minister as the chief guest. This overbridge will benefit commuters who used to get stuck at the railway crossing. Work has been taken up at the cost of Rs 40 crores under Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation. Let us support development work in Cumbarjua constituency.

Pilgaonkar credited his spouse for his success.
“I am grassroots level worker and worked tirelessly. The MLA is like my elder brother. I thank him too. He works for the people and is always approachable. I thank the party for reposing their trust in me. In my mind, I have already started working. The party is working on various development works across the state and in our constituency,” he said.
Kuncalienkar said that present Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has undertake tremendous development work with assistance of the Centre, which is the double engine sarkar.
“I feel proud our party is working for the state and country with the support of the karyakartas. Our party is the only party which is cadre-based and not family based or a sole person like some other parties. BJP is the only party that gives an opportunity for a simple karyakarta to move ahead. That’s how a simple grassroots worker like Narendra Modi went on to become the Prime Minister of the country,” he said.
