Calangute MLA Vows to Restore Safety in Tourist Hub

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has expressed concern over the recent incidents of assault in Goa, stating that they have brought a bad name to the state. Lobo emphasized the importance of promoting Goa as a safe destination, citing the state’s dependence on tourism for livelihood.

“We need to work together to ensure that our tourists have a secure and enjoyable experience,” Lobo said. “This is crucial for our livelihood, and we must take immediate action to address the recent incidents of assault.”

General Secretary of Shack Owners, John Lobo, echoed MLA Lobo’s concerns, stating, “The safety and well-being of our tourists is our top priority. We urge the authorities to take strict action against those involved in illegal activities and to increase surveillance on the beaches.”

To address the issue, Lobo proposed increasing surveillance and enforcement on the beaches, as well as taking stricter action against those involved in illegal activities. He also emphasized the need for cooperation between the government, local authorities, and the tourism industry to promote Goa as a safe and welcoming destination.

Lobo will meet with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to discuss the issue and raise concerns about tourist safety. He hopes to work together with the government to find a solution and restore Goa’s reputation as a safe destination.

Tourists are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety, such as being aware of their surroundings, keeping valuables secure, and avoiding traveling alone at night. Despite the recent incidents, Goa is still considered one of the safer destinations in India, with a relatively low crime rate compared to other parts of the country.
