MAPUSA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL BOOSTS WASTE MANAGEMENT WITH NEW TIPPER TRUCK
Mapusa: In a significant step towards achieving the Swachh Bharat mission’s goals, the Mapusa Municipal Council has acquired a brand-new Tipper Truck. The vehicle, funded entirely through municipal funds, is designed to enhance waste management and civic services in Mapusa.
The Tipper Truck was officially inaugurated by MLA of Mapusa Constituency, Shri Joshua De Souza, in the presence of Chairperson Priya Mishal and all the Councillors
The council has procured the Tipper Truck at an estimated cost of ₹1,500,000 to ₹3,000,000. This investment demonstrates the council’s commitment to utilizing municipal funds effectively and prioritizing the needs of the community.
Mapusa has been actively working towards improving its waste management practices. Recently, Mondelez India launched its “Lighthouse Project” in Mapusa, aiming to address key waste management challenges and contribute to a circular economy.
The project focuses on upgrading the existing Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to a Smart MRF, digitizing waste management, and driving behavioral change through awareness campaigns.
