“Goa Rallies Against Malaria: State-Level Function Marks World Malaria Day”

Panaji, Goa – In a significant step towards eliminating malaria, the Directorate of Health Services, in collaboration with the National Vector Disease Control Programme, observed World Malaria Day with a state-level function at the Institute of menezes Braganza  (IMB) in Panaji. The event, themed “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to reaffirm their commitment to combating malaria.

Key stakeholders, including Shri. Ajeet Kumar Mohanty, Research Scientist and Officer In-Charge, Dr. Rupa Naik, Director of the Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Dattaram B. Dessai, President of the Indian Medical Association, Ponda Goa, and Dr. Kalpana Mahatme, State Programme Officer and Deputy Director of the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme, emphasized the need for sustained efforts to eliminate malaria.

The function highlighted the importance of collaborative initiatives and innovative strategies to prevent and control malaria. As Goa continues to battle the disease, this event serves as a testament to the state’s dedication to protecting public health and achieving a malaria-free future.
