Vishwajit Rane Launches Ambitious 5-Lakh Tree Plantation Drive to Transform State’s Ecosystem”
Panaji, June 5, 2025: In a significant step towards environmental conservation, Goa’s Forest Minister, Shri. Vishwajit P Rane, launched the #EkPedMaaKeNaam initiative, aiming to plant 5 lakh trees across the state in the next 3-4 months. The initiative was inaugurated on World Environment Day 2025 at the Sonsodo Waste Site in Margao Municipal Area, marking a crucial effort to transform a legacy dump site into a thriving green space. During the launch event, around 500 trees were planted at the Sonsodo site, setting the tone for the ambitious project. The ceremony was attended by Margao MLA, Shri. Digambar Kamat, and other dignitaries, who emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and community involvement.
The #EkPedMaaKeNaam initiative is a testament to the Goa government’s commitment to promoting sustainability and reducing the state’s carbon footprint.
