Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Charts New Course for Agricultural Exports

Panaji: In a significant step towards boosting Goa’s agricultural exports, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting at Mantralaya with APEDA and Jaivik Bharat. The meeting aimed to unlock Goa’s agricultural export potential and featured discussions on key areas, including APEDA’s role in promoting exports across 18 major agricultural product categories.

Goa is projected to achieve ₹27.90 billion (US$ 27.90 Bn) in agricultural exports for FY 2024-25, showcasing the state’s growing presence in the global market. The meeting deliberated on the organic certification system under NPOP and upcoming revisions that will benefit Goan farmers, enhancing the state’s reputation as a naturally organic region.

The discussion also covered Goa’s top agricultural products and their export potential, paving the way for increased participation in the global market. The meeting outlined the way forward for enhancing organic exports and identified key upcoming events for Goa’s participation, solidifying the state’s commitment to agricultural excellence.

Dr. Sawant emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Goa into a model organic export hub. “Together, we are paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future for Goa’s farmers and exporters,” he stated. The Chief Minister highlighted Goa’s potential to make significant contributions to India’s agricultural export ambitions, leveraging its natural organic status.

With these initiatives, Goa is poised to strengthen its agricultural sector and increase its share in national agricultural exports, benefiting local farmers and the state’s economy.
