Disaster Management Drive in Bicholim: A Step Towards a Resilient Goa
The Goa State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) recently conducted a special drive on disaster management at Bicholim as part of the #SwayampurnaGoa Programme. This initiative aims to enhance the state’s preparedness and response to natural disasters.
The programme focused on educating locals about disaster risk reduction and management strategies. The GSDMA interacted with the local community to raise awareness about disaster management plans and protocols. The initiative aimed to build the capacity of local authorities and emergency responders to respond to disasters effectively.
The #SwayampurnaGoa Programme is a commendable effort by the Goa government to make the state self-sufficient and resilient in the face of disasters. By conducting such drives, the GSDMA is working towards creating a disaster-resilient community in Goa.
The GSDMA has been actively working on disaster management initiatives, including developing a Heatwave Action Plan to mitigate the impact of heatwaves in the state and implementing an emergency response system with a helpline (Dial 112) and emergency contact numbers (0832-2419550/2419446).
The GSDMA plans to continue its efforts in disaster management, including training and capacity-building programs for local authorities and emergency responders. By working together, the authority aims to create a safer and more resilient Goa.
