New Road Overbridge Work on Gandaulim Route: Old Goa to Gandaulim Road to Remain Closed from Monday

PANAJI: Taking note of the daily traffic congestion at the Old Goa railway crossing, the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has initiated the construction of a road overbridge to ease the problem.

In view of this, the road from Old Goa to Gandaulim will be closed for traffic from Monday onwards until further notice. The stretch that will be shut is from the Fisherman Training Centre in Ella, Old Goa, to the Dempo Football Ground.

This road is extensively used by vehicles travelling to Marcel, Bicholim, Sanquelim, and even Belagavi. Once completed, the overbridge is expected to significantly reduce the long queues that commuters currently face during train crossings.

During the closure, vehicles will be diverted via the Banastarim route or Corlim industrial estate.

Speaking about the project, Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai said, “The new overbridge will bring much-needed relief to daily commuters and residents of the area. I request everyone’s cooperation and patience while the work is underway. We are committed to completing this project swiftly for the benefit of our people.”
