SWEDISH GOLFER JESPER SANDBORG QUALIFIES FOR BRITISH OPEN DEBUT
Jesper Sandborg, a 32-year-old golfer from Landeryds GK, has secured a spot in the British Open, marking his major debut. Sandborg, currently ranked 761 in the world, finished fourth in the qualifying tournament at Dundonald Links, shooting 139 strokes (five under par). He was two strokes behind the winner, 52-year-old Lee Westwood, who topped the qualifying tournament.
Sandborg’s impressive performance earned him one of the coveted spots for “The Open,” which will take place at Royal Portrush in just under three weeks. Fellow Swedish golfer Jens Dantorp, ranked 368, narrowly missed out on qualification, finishing outside the top five at Royal Cinque Ports.
Notably, other Swedish golfers like Henrik Stenson, Ludvig Åberg, Jesper Svensson, and Sebastian Söderberg have already qualified for the 153rd edition of the British Open, scheduled for July 17-20. Sandborg’s participation will mark his debut in this prestigious major.which will be decided on 17–20 July.
