Calangute Association defeats Curtorim Gymkhana 3-1 in Custodio Memorial Tournament
Raia, Goa – Calangute Association secured a thrilling 3-1 victory over Curtorim Gymkhana in the 52nd Custodio Memorial Football Tournament at the Raia Panchayat Ground. Richard Cardoso’s brilliant hat-trick proved decisive, marking the first hat-trick of the tournament.
Cardoso opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Curtorim Gymkhana’s Anselm Fernandes equalized just nine minutes later. Cardoso struck again in the 56th minute with a stunning curling effort, and sealed his hat-trick with a clinical finish, dribbling past defenders and the goalkeeper.
Calangute Association’s goalkeeper made a crucial save on Milagres Fernandes’ powerful shot, helping his team hold on for the win. Cardoso was named man-of-the-match, receiving the award from Oswald D’Souza, former deputy sarpanch of Raia Village Panchayat. The win propels Calangute Association into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
