GOA’S ENTREPRENEURIAL FUTURE BOOSTED: CM DR. SAWANT CHAIRED 404th EDC BOARD MEETING
Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired the 404th Board Meeting of EDC Limited at EDC House, Panaji, where several key decisions were taken to further strengthen Goa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote financial inclusion for local businesses. The meeting approved the financials of EDC Limited for FY 2024-25, with revenue of ₹111.47 Cr, profit of ₹81.27 Cr, and gross NPA < 0.25%. New loan proposals for Goan enterprises were sanctioned, taking the total loan sanctions this year to approximately ₹40 Cr. The Chief Minister also granted in-principle approval to the Mukhyamantri Rozgar Yojana and approved a collaborative initiative with EDII to train faculty from government colleges and higher secondary schools in entrepreneurial education.
Dr. Sawant directed EDC to design new loan schemes tailored for Goan businesses and simplify and enhance accessibility of existing financial schemes for entrepreneurs. “These initiatives will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of entrepreneurship in Goa and promoting financial inclusion for local businesses,” said Dr. Sawant. The meeting also reviewed the commendable efforts of the Goa Chapter of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India in promoting entrepreneurship across the state. With these decisions, Goa is poised to take a significant leap in promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth.
