Karl Lagerfeld’s Villa Sells for 4.7 Million Euros in Candle Auction
A villa outside Paris once owned by the late Karl Lagerfeld has been sold at auction for 4.7 million euros. The villa, located in Louveciennes west of Paris, was bought by Lagerfeld in 2010 and was a place where he could escape and be himself.

The sale took place in a traditional candle auction, a method that Lagerfeld himself might have approved of. In this type of auction, the sale time is defined by the burning of two small candles, each lasting about 15 seconds. The villa fetched just above the asking price of 4.6 million euros.

The villa is situated on a two-hectare park with three separate houses, a swimming pool, and a tennis court. The property is surrounded by trees and walls, ensuring discretion and anonymity. Lagerfeld’s studio occupied a large part of the first floor of the main house, and he had even recreated his childhood bedroom in a small room with leopard-print walls.

According to those who knew him, Lagerfeld loved the villa and considered it “the true version of himself.” He carried out extensive renovations on the property, which has a rich history dating back to the 19th century and was once owned by the poet Leconte de Lisle and members of the Rothschild family.

The villa was sold to a real estate company after being abandoned following Lagerfeld’s death in 2019. This sale comes after Lagerfeld’s futuristic Paris apartment was sold for 10 million euros in March 2024, twice its asking price.
