“Staff Shortage in Goa Police Stations Highlighted in Assembly by LOP Yuri Alemao”
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao raised a pressing concern in the Goa Assembly during Zero Hour, highlighting the acute shortage of staff at nearly 90% of police stations across the state. Specifically, Alemao mentioned Margao, Mapusa, Maina-Curtorim, Colva, Vasco, Quepem, and Ponda police stations as being severely understaffed.
Alemao pointed out that crucial positions, such as Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI) and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySP), have remained vacant for over two years. The staggering numbers include 215 vacant PSI posts and 28 vacant DySP posts.
This significant shortage of personnel raises concerns about the potential impact on public safety and law enforcement in Goa. With key positions remaining unfilled, the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force may be compromised.
Alemao’s remarks serve as a call to action for the state government to address the staffing crisis in the Goa police department. Filling these vacancies is essential to ensuring the police force can maintain law and order, respond to emergencies, and provide adequate support to the community.
