Goa Kul Mundkar Sangarsh Samiti Raises Voice for Nilesh Chari’s Socorro Porvorim Home
Mapusa: The Goa Kul Mundkar Sangarsh Samiti has come forward demanding that the house of Nilesh Chari at Soccoro Porvorim be rebuilt. This demand comes amidst the Samiti’s ongoing efforts to support the rights of Mundkars and Kuls in Goa.
“We are committed to fighting for the rights of our members and ensuring justice is served,” said a spokesperson for the Samiti. “The case of Nilesh Chari’s house is a prime example of the struggles faced by many Mundkars and Kuls in Goa.”
The Samiti has been actively involved in various protests and discussions regarding the rights of Mundkars and Kuls, including a recent memorandum submitted to the government. Their demands include amendments to the Kul and Mundkar Act to provide justice to those who have been affected by the law.
The demand to rebuild Nilesh Chari’s house highlights the complexities surrounding land ownership and regularization in Goa, particularly in areas governed by comunidade laws. “The issue is not just about rebuilding a house, but about recognizing the rights of Mundkars and Kuls to their ancestral land,” added the co-ordinator of the samitee Dipesh naik .
The Goa government has recently passed bills aimed at regularizing unauthorized constructions and providing relief to residents living in unauthorized houses on comunidade land. However, the Samiti’s demand for rebuilding Nilesh Chari’s house may face challenges in light of these new regulations, which exclude sensitive areas from regularization.
As the issue unfolds, it remains to be seen how the government responds to the Samiti’s demands and whether a resolution can be reached that benefits all parties involved.
“We will continue to fight for what is rightfully ours and hope that the government will listen to our pleas,” concluded the spokesperson.
