In a significant step towards creating a drug-free society, the South Goa district administration, led by Collector and District Magistrate Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, organized a pledge-taking ceremony at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex. The event was attended by officials from the Mamlatdar Office, Deputy Collector Office, Salcete, and the Collectorate, who reaffirmed their commitment to building a drug-free India.
Ms. Egna Cleetus administered the pledge to officials, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in combating drug abuse. The participation from various departments showcased their commitment to the cause. The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, aims to create awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and promote a drug-free society.
The campaign has been instrumental in uniting civil society, government agencies, and academic institutions in the fight against drug abuse. Over the past five years, it has made significant progress, with youth leading the change. The campaign’s objective is to sensitize people about the ill effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle.
To further strengthen the campaign, educational institutions will be organizing mass pledge-taking ceremonies, student-centric awareness campaigns, human chains, and workshops.
