100 Not Out: Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Hosts Sports Extravaganza during Centenary Celebrations
Panaji, August 2025 – As part of its grand centenary year celebrations, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, in Miramar, hosted a three-day sports fiesta spanning multiple sports.
Day 1 witnessed intense squash rallies and engaging pickleball matches, which set the tone for the fiesta. Day 2 was packed with action across snooker, carrom, table tennis, badminton and more pickleball games. The excitement peaked on Day 3, with thrilling finals and a prize distribution ceremony, marking a fitting finale to the celebration.
According to Sairaj Dhond, chairman of the Club’s sports committee, the Sports Fiesta has truly embodied the spirit of the Centenary, celebrating health, sportsmanship, and togetherness across generations. “The scale of participation was beyond our expectations, overwhelming and heartening. Never before have we witnessed such enthusiastic involvement from our members, making this milestone event even more memorable,” Dhond said.
In the men’s singles, Deepak Gopani emerged as the winner in table tennis with Raj Lotlikar as runner-up, while in badminton Rajaram Kundaikar claimed the title ahead of Neale Fernandes. Kundaikar also secured victory in pickleball, with Rajendra Godhino finishing runner-up. Among the women, Eliza Fernandes won the badminton singles, defeating Preeti, while in table tennis Roshni Gopani triumphed over Faranak Braganza. In pickleball, Simran Nadkarni took the title with Charmaine Godhino as runner-up.
Special awards highlighted the wide age span of participants, from six-year-old Adi Zarapkar, the youngest, to 83-year-old Avinash Pai Raiturkar, the seniormost. Rajaram Kundaikar was named overall outstanding player, while Rajendra and Charmaine Godinho were recognised as the best member couple players
