PANAJI: In an apparent jibe at BJP, Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday charged that saffron party has divided nation into ‘Amir Hindusthan’ and ‘Garib Hindusthan’ and assured to implement ‘Nyay’ scheme from which every poor family of Goa will get annually 72 thousand rupees, once the Congress forms government.
Rahul Gandhi was speaking in meeting held in Sanquelim. Congress Senior leader and election strategist P Chidambaram, senior leader Pratapsingh Rane, Leader of opposition Digambar Kamat. Goa In Charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, K C Venugopal, MP Francisco Sardinha, Ramakant Khalap, Amarnath Panajikar and others were present on the occasion.
“During opinion poll Congress gave freedom to Goan to choose whether they want to merge or protect identity. Congress has always supported people of Goa. Now you have to decide who you want to run your government. I assure you all the Congress will form government and it will be government of people.” Rahul Gandhi said.
“Congress has always executed the things wished by people. We do development by consent of people and by taking them into confidence. But BJP has ruined Goa killed democracy and has done destruction of environment by going against the wishes of people.” He charged.
He said that Congress will not allow BJP make Goa coal hub. “Goa is known for tourism activities. Tourism and coal hub pollution cant walk together. Why would tourist come here if they witness coal pollution.” Rahul Gandhi questioned.
“BJP has divided nation in ‘Amir Hindusthan’ and ‘Garib Hindusthan’. Richest persons like Ambani and Adani are gaining wealth and our poor people are deprived of unemployment, services in hospitals, education and Oxygen. We want to change this scenario.” Rahul Gandhi said.
He added that only richest persons benefitted with GST implementation, however small businesses suffered loss.
He said that partnership of people and Congress will take Goa Forward. “Nobody should sleep hungry and for that matter we have promised schemes in our manifesto. We will implement them once we are in power.” He said.
Rahul Gandhi said that focus of Congress is on generating employment. “we know how to create it and will bring promises into reality.” He said.
He appealed people to support Congress to form new Goa and new government.
Speaking on the occasion Girish Chodankar said that Congress will form a Manifesto Implementation Committee after coming into power and implement all schemes which are promised.
“We have kept our word of not giving tickets to defectors. We have given young young faces as promised.” He said.
He hit out at BJP for ruining Goa on all areas. “BJP us working only to help crony capitalist friends of Modi.’’ He charged.
Digambar Kamat stated that BJP and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stopped mining and today lakhs of people are suffering due to its suspension. “Mining dependents benefitted during the Congress Govt. But BJP gave only poverty.” He said.
Sardinha said that BJP has spoiled the environment of Goa by bring three linear projects. “We are thankful to the people of Goa for giving us 17 MLAs last election. But BJP lured them and formed govt.” he said.
GPCC Vice President M K Sheikh compered the program and Amarnath Panajikar proposed vote of thanks.
During his visit to Sanquelim, Rahul Gandhi visited Ganesh Temple and sought blessings on the occasion of Ganesh Jayanti.
