Bimb publication, a well-known Publication House of Goa has been publishisng quality books for many years. Simultaneously it has been coming out with the only Konkani monthly magazine for the last 20 years that is popular among the Konkani masses.
Two years back senior writer, Journalist and freedom fighter shriGurunathKelekar suggested that on the day of International Women’s Day Bimb should declare awards for worthy women. As a mark of respect to his wish,Bimb publication has started “Bimb Women’s Award” from 2021. The chosen personality is selected on the basis of her contribution to Art, culture and other fields.
In the year 2021, award was bestowed on the social worker, film producer, connoisseur of theatre Dr.PramodDilipsalgaonkar.
This year’s award is conferred on Founder Assistant Editor, Bimb, and Associate professor DnyanprassarakMandal’s College and Research Centre, Social worker, writer, film and theatre artist Ms.PrashantiTalpankar.
In Goa, many women according to their capacity and passion are contributing in the social fields. Bimb magazines have been supporting and motivating such women to write and as a result many of them have imprinted their own mark in the society as poets and/ or writers. But due acknowledgment is not given to these women. So to fill this void, Bimb publication has decided to recognise such women on the International Women’s Day every year with a memento, citation and a sum of Rs. Twenty five thousand in a special ceremony.
This year’s awardee Ms.PrashantiTalpankar is a Sahitya Academy Award winner in translation (2017). She is a writer, actor and a translator. Most of the films that she has acted in are award winning films.
