North Goa BJP candidate Shripad naik commenced his campaigning in Calangute

Calangute:  A change in political equations in Calangute has prompted North Goa BJP candidate and sitting MP Shripad Naik to step up his campaign in Calangute constituency on Friday .

Naik camped in full throttle in Calangute constituency and held a series of corner meetings in Parra, Arpora-Nagoa, Calangute and Candolim in the presence of Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and the panch members and sarpanchas .

Addressing a corner meeting at Parra Calangute MLA  Lobo came down heavily on the INDIA alliance and accused them of being opportunists.

Lobo claimed that Naik will be re-elected with a thumping margin votes and added that the people of Calangute would support BJP for its developmental works in the coastal villages of Calangute.

A lot of locals in the coastal belt have constructed guesthouses, restaurants, small businesses and they keep receiving demolition notices from the authorities. We have spoken about this on many occasions and shripad naik will work  towards getting the  CRZ notification amended to allow part of  commercial activities in your house,” Lobo said.

Speaking at the corner meeting, Naik said he was fortunate to have been elected from North Goa for the  fourth term.

“However, I need another term to complete the shortcomings. I have come here for votes knowing very well that I have done a lot during my previous terms, though more could have been done. I have utilized MP funds for various projects including construction of   community halls, crematoriums and schools,” Naik told.” Naik told the electorate.

speaking further naik said that after mining, tourism is the biggest industry in Goa. The BJP government at the Centre and in the State has already carried out a lot of development to promote the tourism industry across the State” he further said
