*Candolim, September 20, 2024:* The CIO Association Goa Chapter successfully hosted DigiTrans at Hilton Goa Resort, an innovative event aimed at upscaling digital transformations to new horizons. This dynamic gathering of technology leaders featured engaging discussions on the latest advancements in digital transformation and their cross-industry impact.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & ITE&C, Government of Goa, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, former Union Minister and Chairman of the Goa Advisory Board, Shri Suresh Prabhu, Chairman of the Advisory Council and Mentor of MAIT, Shri Nitin Kunkolienker, CEO & Director of Arteria, Shri Sriram Kanuri, and Executive Director of BNI Goa Region, Shri Rajkumar Kamat.

During his keynote address, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & ITE&C, Government of Goa, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte emphasized the rapid evolution of Goa into a hub for creative and technical innovation. He highlighted the strategic focus of the State’s Department of ITE&C on fostering creativity, promoting remote work, and enhancing digital infrastructure.

Highlighting the State’s strategic focus, the Minister elaborated on Goa’s efforts to transform into India’s “Design Capital.” The Department of ITE&C is committed to nurturing an environment for designers, artists, and digital nomads. He emphasized that instead of competing in the crowded IT space, Goa aims to carve out a unique identity by promoting innovation and creativity.

Shri. Khaunte also underscored the significance of remote work in Goa’s growth, accelerated by the pandemic. “Our main focus is on Industry 4.0, and we are advancing through initiatives like the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at Tuem and Design Policy to create a design village. The Homestay Policy is attracting digital nomads, and we are working with the central government to implement a Digital Nomad Visa. By December, we will have co-working spaces on the beaches with high-speed internet connectivity to support remote professionals,” he said.

The Minister shared the State’s commitment to regenerative tourism, which not only focuses on sustainability but seeks to restore ecosystems and empower local communities. He reiterated that both the Departments of Tourism and ITE&C are working hand-in-hand to create a seamless blend of technology and culture in Goa.

He further emphasized key initiatives, including the IT Policy, Startup Policy, and Drone Policy, all aimed at equipping local entrepreneurs with the resources and support needed for success. The Minister invited attendees to actively contribute to Goa’s transformative journey toward a future driven by creativity, technological innovation, and impactful collaboration.
