Margao: The 10th season of the MCC Members Cricket League (MCL) witnessed two thrilling encounters on Saturday at the MCC Ground, Margao. In the morning match, the MCC Royals secured a commanding six-wicket victory over the MCC Warriors with 21 balls to spare. Later in the day, the MCC Masters edged out the MCC Knights in a nail-biting finish, winning by three wickets in 18.2 overs.

Winning the toss, the Royals chose to bowl and immediately put the Warriors under pressure, reducing them to 56/6. A resilient knock by Abhishek Goyal (37 off 21 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes) helped the Warriors post 110 in 19.2 overs. The Royals’ bowlers were impressive, with Aditya Angle (2/19) and Shailesh Redkar (2/25) leading the charge. Amey Prabhudesai, Sunny Luthra, Vinay Sambari, and Sairaj Dhond chipped in with a wicket each.

In reply, the Royals overcame an early setback, with Samrudh Bharne (35 off 33 balls) and Aditya Angle (35 off 29 balls) forming a vital 41-run partnership for the third wicket. Rueben Karekar (7*) and Shailesh Redkar (9*) completed the chase in 16.3 overs, with the Royals finishing at 112/4. Aditya Angle’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

In the afternoon clash, the MCC Masters opted to bowl first after winning the toss. The Knights posted a competitive total of 150 in 19.5 overs, powered by captain Pranav Biche (36 off 19 balls), Pawan Rane (35 off 15 balls), and Nihaal Borkar (36 runs). Masters’ bowlers Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar (2/11) and Paul Fernandes (2/19) delivered standout performances, with Balakrishna Hodarkar and Satyesh Kamat adding a wicket each.

Chasing 151, the Masters were in trouble at 24/3 but were rescued by stellar contributions from Vikrant Prabhu (36), Prasad Ghode (29), and a quick-fire 38 off 15 balls by Amlon D’Souza, who smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar (26 off 15 balls) added the finishing touches as the Masters sealed the win at 151/7 in 18.2 overs. Amlon D’Souza was adjudged Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.

Following Saturday’s matches, MCC Masters and MCC Dragons are tied for first place with 6 points each. MCC Stallions, MCC Royals, and MCC Legends trail with 4 points each. MCC Tigers and MCC Warriors have 2 points each, while MCC Knights are yet to secure a win after four games.
