GOVERNOR GRACES NAVY DAY CELEBRATIONS IN GOA
Panaji, December 4: Governor Shri. PS Sreedharan Pillai graced the Navy Day celebrations organized by the Goa Naval Area at the Navy House, Headquarters, Naval Area. The annual event commemorates the Indian Navy’s remarkable Operation Trident during the 1971 Indo-Pak War ¹.
Rear Admiral Ajay D. Theophilus, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area, was also present along with other dignitaries, including Panchayats Minister Shri. Mauvin Godinho, Environment Minister Shri. Aleixo Sequeira, Vasco MLA Shri. Krishna Daji Salkar, and Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Shri. Girish Borker.
The First Lady, Smt. Ritta S. Pillai, and Secretary to Governor, Shri M.R.M Rao, IAS, also attended the event.
The Navy Day celebrations are held every year to honor the Indian Navy’s achievements and sacrifices. The Indian Navy played a crucial role in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, and Operation Trident was a significant milestone in the war ¹.
