“Shri Shanta Vidyalaya siolim pays homage to martyrs on Goa revolution day ”
On the occasion of Goa Kranti Din, Shri Shanta Vidyalaya, a school run by Vidya Bharati, organized a program to pay homage to the martyrs who fought against the Portuguese rule in Goa. The school’s principal, Shri Vishwas Sangale, and teachers guided the students to visit the Pannalal Martyr’s Memorial at Parsee and pay their respects to the martyrs.
Chief guest, Shri Devendra Prabhudesai, a retired teacher and social worker, said that June 18th is a day of revolution and inspiration, when the people of Goa decided to fight against the injustices of the Portuguese. He urged the students to bring about a revolution in their thoughts and actions to tackle similar challenges in the present times.
Sarpanch of Parsee village, Shri Ajay Kalangutkar, was present as a special guest and assured the school of the panchayat’s support for its development. He said that the panchayat would provide all necessary facilities for education and would always be ready to help.
The program began with the lighting of lamps and the offering of floral tributes to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia’s statue. The students presented inspirational songs and poems, and some students spoke about the significance of Kranti Din.
The school also organized a visit to the martyr’s memorial at Patradevi, where the students and teachers paid their respects to the martyrs. The program was organized under the guidance of teachers Shri Vishwas Sangale and Smt. Smita Pole, and was conducted by Shri Umesh Mahalakar, with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri Sangam Chodankar.
