Mapusa/ Panaji : Goa experienced heavy unseasonal on Saturday morning. Many places in both North and South Goa witnessed heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds.  Sudden unseasonal showers  also disrupted normal life The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next five days, cautioning about the possibility of heavy rains and adverse weather conditions.

In light of the alert, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period to ensure their safety. A massive raincloud has been spotted hovering over Goa, as well as parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka, indicating widespread rainfall in the region.

Most roads in Mapusa were flooded with rainwater, while some uncovered drains had water gushing out with all kinds of garbage and plastic on roads in Mapusa.

Meanwhile, the Mapusa fire station  also attended to several calls of trees getting uprooted at various places. There were also reports of power cuts in various villages of Bardez.

In the Smart City Panjim, the impact of the rainfall was  already being felt, with roads beginning to clog due to the downpour. Some areas, particularly those under construction,  witnessed instances of roads sinking, raising concerns about infrastructure stability.
