The Managing Director of GTDC handed over a cheque of Rs.45,29,382/-towards dividend on behalf tourism minister to chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant, on Friday
the cheques were handed ove to chief minister in the presensnce of tourism minister Rohan Khaunte Chairman of GTDC, Shri Ganesh Gaonkar, Ahuja, Secretary (Tourism) Shri Sanjeev, Shri , Director of Tourism,Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla and Managing Director, GTDC, Shri Brijesh Manerkar,
GTDC director Brijesh Manrekar informed that the Corporation has made a profit of Rs.15.79 crores during the financial year 2021-22, which is highest in the history of the Corporation.
Manrekar further informed that due to the farsighted vision of the Chairman and the Board of Directors, today the Corporation could achieve such huge profit.
He further informed that GTDC has been managing its Residencies (Hotels), which comprises the major source of revenue generation to the Corporation. The unutilized/ under-utilized land parcels were also Tendered out for development in the interest of the Corporation under Private Investment Mode, thereby generating revenue to the Corporation, without making investment of internal funds of Corporation. In the recent past the Board of GTDC has launched “New Tourism Services” such as Hot air ballooning, motorized paragliding, bunjee jumping, battery operated bicycles tours, App based taxi service, white water rafting, heritage boat cruise, etc. which has contributed towards revenue generation.
The Board has already approved iconic projects under Private Investment Mode, on the land parcels of GTDC, which shall not only generate revenue to the Corporation and the State Government, but also create employment opportunities to the locals in the State of Goa. The proposed Projects under Private Investment Mode are Star Category Hotels at various land parcels including a State-of the-Art Ropeway project and Cruise Vessels. The necessary approvals are being obtained, and the projects shall be ready for service of the tourists within a span of 2 -3 years. MD, GTDC recognized the contribution and efforts of then MD, GTDC, Shri Nikhil Desai, IAS.
Many projects were initiated and Agreements were executed in the field of Private Investment Mode and under New Tourism Services, during the service tenure of the then MD, GTDC, which has yielded profits during last many financial years. Additionally, GTDC has been designated as Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) by the State Government of Goa for undertaking Tourism related Infrastructure works in the State of Goa, under State and Central funds. Till date, GTDC has successfully set up basic amenities at beaches and other tourist locations such as Tourist Information Centre, changing rooms, drinking Water, parking lots, benches, toilet blocks etc
. Projects which were successfully completed by GTDC under Swadesh Darshan Scheme I and Swadesh Darshan Scheme II are renovation of Aguada jail, parking and illumination at Colva and Benaulim beach, development of Dona Paula Jetty etc. which has created an impact on the tourism infrastructure. GTDC was incorporated on 30.03.1982 under the Companies Act, 1956, by the State Government of Goa, with the primary object of promoting tourism in the State of Goa. GTDC is a State Government owned Company whose 100% shares are held by the State Government. Upon its incorporation, immoveable assets in the form of Residencies (Hotels), vacant land parcels, and also moveable assets in the form of motor vehicles, etc. were transferred to GDTC by the Department of Tourism. During its journey of 40 years, GTDC has professionally managed its Residencies (Hotels) and always made tourists comfortable and “feel at home” experience
